A temporary ending

Another week gone by. This was my last week of classes for the semester, with finals coming up next week. Pretty excited to have more time in the evenings though my days will still be full as I'm shifting to full time work for the remainder of the summer. Three full weeks of work, then a little getaway and then back to full time classes!

Bit of a personal achievement related to classes, I received a certificate recognizing my achievement of the Dean's Honour Roll which I'm quite proud of.

About a month ago, Renkon introduced me to this manga 税金で買った本 (Zeikin de Katta Hon, which translates rougly to Books Bought with Taxpayer's Money) about a delinquent who ends up working at a library. Ishidaira, the delinquent, plays the role of reader proxy, asking other characters about functions and such in the library. While it teaches the reader about these things, it has enough humour and fun situations that it balances out quite nicely. Was amusing to start reading it and immediately get hit with some "insider" library knowledge that I learned in class.

Also was introduced to Wild Strawberry this week.

Plants have evolved. They can now feed on humans and become terrible monsters known as Jinka. Kingo and Kayano do their best to survive in a Tokyo overrun by plants, but when Kayano becomes a Jinka, Kingo will do anything he can to get her back!

The art's pretty great and I'm interested to see where it goes. Only a few chapters out so far, so we'll see!

Another thing I just took a look at thanks to a recommendation is Stone Story RPG. Bit of an incremental game with excellent presentation. Vibes are kind of akin to Sword & Sworcery EP, which gives it big points in my book. Things unfold as you explore different locales, fighting monsters. I haven't seen too much yet but like what I have. Also, it's free somehow?

Didn't do this last week but didn't really have anything to rec, nor time for it, but I'll continue to this as I can.

The Coming Enshittification of Public Libraries by Karawynn Long, in which she looks at some troubling issues that libraries are having to deal with (hey I know, I have a niche) by way of Overdrive.

It's the Hobonichi Techo 2024 31 Days of Previews! I really like my Techo, and while I don't go for the "gotta get all the new stuff" that the wider planner community (lol) does, it is nice to see what they're doing. Sometimes the new covers are pretty great too.

That's it for this week, going to get some long overdue rest while I can.
